Abstract

Significant and ongoing advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) have allowed for employing its techniques in diagnosing many diseases, one of these diseases is Parkinson’s disease (PD) which is considered the second most common neurodegenerative disorder. The diagnosis heavily depends on the practitioner’s experience because there are no definitive laboratory tests or definitive medical imaging tests. Currently, there is no cure for PD, which makes it a suitable application area for AI techniques. These techniques can address several issues related to PD, such as the lack of experienced medical staff, reducing expenses, and minimizing human error and bias. This study therefore reviewed several published studies that focus on diagnosing PD by employing AI techniques.
